European Heritage Label

Since 2007, the Cantacuzino Palace was included in the European Heritage List, as well as the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, The Histria Fortress and The Heroes Alley in Targu-Jiu. Acquiring the European Heritage Label is due to the emblematic value of Enescu’s creation for the European culture, the Cantacuzino Palace hosting, since 1956, the museum dedicated to the memory of the composer.

Launched by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, in close connection with the European Commission, this initiative of European Heritage Label aims to value the European dimension of the cultural goods, monuments, natural or historical sites and other places of memorial relevance, significant for the European history and cultural heritage.

The aim of this project is to strengthen, for the European citizens, the sense of adherence to a common European identity, and to foster the idea of a shared European cultural space.
